Shere Khan merely yawned insultingly, as if he was bored already. And he was really starting to believe he was getting the short end of the stick when it came to opponents.
"Cat, is it? How...obvious. Good for you. You know your animals," he chuckled, padding forward a bit. "So, you haven't killed, have you? Well, let me tell you something. I have, and I've gotten very good at it over the years. But I'll tell you what. I'll make things easier for you."
He turned his back on the white dog, and walked forward a bit before glancing back over his shoulder. "This should be more to your level. Or should I lie on my back?"
The smirk on his face belied the polite tone of voice that colored his words. He really had no respect for the dog's taunts, or really anything about him. Fear of his wrath had cowed an entire pack of wolves, and even a herd of elephants took him seriously. One small dog couldn't hope to take him down.

Post by Gray Brother on Oct 23, 2013 2:59:52 GMT
A piercingly loud yelp stabbed out of the young wolf's mouth as his pack leader's incisors raked across his face. Part of the noisy reaction was out of the pain that seared in two stinging lines across his muzzle and brow. Most of it stemmed from the disbelieving surprise. Without giving any thought to what he was doing, acting purely on instinct after having such shocking pain in such a sensitive place dealt to him,Gray Brother twisted around and grasped Akela's scruff in his jaws as the older one dashed past to go for Gray Brother's shoulder. In this spasmodic movement he also swung his hindquarters out of the path of the same jaws that had just slashed his visage.
Blood dripped into Taraha's eyes and mouth—not the Alpha's blood, but his own. His face burned from the sharp scores that had been torn into him. For the split second that Gray Brother had Akela in his grip, his mind blurred with the panicked, half-formed thought—Did Akela really hate him, was this more than an act?
He threw that notion out of his mind, though his marred face made it difficult. Of course not. It was all a show. He should have expected his wise, stern mentor to really use his fangs.
Still, a little hurt flowered in the young wolf's chest. All right, he thought, I'll show the old wolf what I can do. Just a like a sparring match back home. Taraha's body was at an awkward angle; his hindquarters were still within reach of Akela's jaws, if the old wolf lunged for them, in which case Gray Brother would have to try and drag him back by the back of the neck, and they'd engage in a strange, ferocious game of ring-around-the-rosy.

(this should go somewhere on page 2)
Redeyes let out a loud roar as Shan-Yu gave the order to attack and then lunged at the hero clawing up the hill towards them to attack. He was also ready to help Shan-Yu with getting the Orb. "You ready for this?" he chuckled, looking at Shan-Yu.

Bolt raised an eyebrow when the tiger mocked him further, turning his back on him and saying, "This should be more to your level. Or should I lie on my back?"
Bolt rolled his eyes and replied, "Clearly, words are not what will win this fight. But action? That seems like a foreign concept to you." Here, Bolt started using a mocking tone of his own. "What's the matter, Fraidy Cat? Too scared to take me head-on?"

Peeking past the log that acted as a door for his cliff-wall hiding place, Kopa could see everything happening outside. He saw another human, this one being a female human, engage Shan Yu, a white dog and a deformed-looking man with surprising agility go up against Shere Khan and Redeyes, and an older wolf facing Gray Brother. These new combatants weren't quite what Kopa had expected to come, but clearly they were on his side.
"I hope they defeat Shan Yu and the others," the cub said quietly to himself. "All except Gray Brother."

Shere Khan frowned, and turned back to face the small dog, tail twitching as he looked the creature over. So much for his sport. Well, it wasn't like he had anything to prove to this mutt, anyways.
"You can hardly blame me for wanting to give you the opportunity to strike first since you are so obviously at a disadvantage," he stated. Then he turned away, and started heading towards the Virtue, glancing back over his shoulder. "But since you're so reluctant to fight, I won't waste my time. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have an orb to retrieve."
He turned completely away from the dog, and padded away, apparently ignoring all of the fighting around him. Perhaps, since everyone else around him was busy fighting, he'd be able to get the orb, and carry it off, out of the Pridelands. If he could figure out how.

While there were a number of options Akela could have chosen to free himself from the younger wolf's grip, he chose instead to continue with his attack. But before he did, he briefly gave the young wolf a chiding glance. Had he really expected Akela to hold back, while Shere Khan was nearby? Who else would be able to tell if they were really fighting than the tiger?
But now, though, he would test Grey Brother's strength. Gathering himself for another lunge, his sharp fangs snapped at the younger wolf's hindquarters. If Grey Brother didn't want to have trouble sitting for a while, he'd have to circle away, and try to use his grip on the elder wolf's scruff to hold him back. And, as it was, they could keep this up for a while.
Show me what you have learned, Grey Brother. Show me you are ready to be counted among the full grown wolves of the Seonee. He could feel he youthful energy in the younger wolf's body. Strength, energy, and agility.

The kick did connect and Mulan did go a few steps back, but with one swift motion she swung around again and cut the front of Shan Yu's chest.
She knew that Shan Yu was a much faster fighter, but was being distracted by the thought of the Orb. She also knew he would make a dash first chance he got. She had to get there before he did, so she jumped onto the first piece of the rock and swung her sword behind her again to see if she could make Shan flinch so he would not follow her too quickly.
She jumped and grabbed the edge of the spiked rock and began to climb as fast as she could with one hand. She had the other one still clutched on her sword, just in case she needed to ward off Shan again.

Biff had been lagging behind but he quickly raced forward at the sound of battle. Hackles raised, he barreled straight at the form of a small white German Shepherd. "Come on then, boy! Show me what you got!" he growled, snapping at Bolt's shoulder.

"Well, that was courteous of a Villain," said Bolt in a sarcastic tone. "Letting a so-called 'disadvantaged' opponent attack first. And by the way, I'm not a 'slave of man' as you say. I'm man's best friend!"
He was about to say something else, but when he looked up at the Virtue, he suddenly felt things he had felt before welling up in his chest: honor, selflessness, love, bravery, courage. All that along with strength, and the power to take on anybody and win, maybe not single-handedly, but that didn't matter. He also remembered people he loved and cared about: Penny, Mittens, Rhino, Oliver, and all the other friends he had met in his life.
But he didn't have time to find out what else the Virtue seemed to be stirring in him, because at that moment, a gray dog named Biff came charging down at him at full speed. Bolt heard Biff coming and jumped just in time to avoid being caught in the grip of Biff's jaws. In the same jump, he leaped up on the wall of the Gorge, and then jumped straight down and landed square on Biff's back, locking his jaws around the gray mutt's neck. He felt his jaws being strengthened by what the Virtue was doing to him, and had no trouble hanging on tight.
