(June 10, 9:00pm. For the purpose of finding the first Orb, and for the Forces of Good and Evil's scouting parties to perhaps battle each other for it for the first time, as well. Open to all, but remember, each scouting party should only have up to six members.)
Feline-like yellow eyes gazed out from under the animal-skin hood. Shan Yu knew that his grabs were not suited for the heat of the Pridelands, but now, here, under the moon of the African Pridelands—enemy territory—he knew that stealth was key.
If the Forces of Good found them out here, before they completed their search, it would reflect poorly on the Hun, though he was confident that he could master anything the enemy threw at him, troops or no troops. It had been Shan Yu's own incentive that took them across the border. He had not asked the Wicked Three for their permission for such a dangerous mission.
They had wisely given the former Clan Chief this position of power, naming him General to pick out the scouting parties that would search for the Ten Virtues. It was a job he was well suited for—let the genie, evil fairy, and undead king sit on their thrones. Let the other generals, human and otherwise, stay cozy back at their bases. Shan Yu knew that the quickest way to power was offensive moves—bold offensive moves. To strike swiftly and without mercy, to overwhelmingly decimate any opponent, destroying utterly all hope of resistance.
While the Forces of Good may not fall easily, they would fall as long as Shan Yu had anything to say about it. The large man looked over his broad shoulder. He was crouched on a boulder, looking out on their landscape. They had descended into the Gorge earlier in the day, where it met the river that served as a borderline between the Outlands and Pridelands. With it's dauntingly sheer walls and cliffs, the Hun leader knew that it was an easy place to be ambushed...if those stupid Heroes were expecting them, which they weren't. For now, the Gorge hid them from any scouts that might be patrolling on the plains above. Taking this route, they could move quietly and quickly along the edge of the Pridelands, searching for Orbs that the Forces of Good may not have found yet.
what assurance did he have that there even were any Orbs in the Pridelands? Nothing. Shan Yu only wanted action. He was secretly hoping a patrol might spot them, giving him a chance to swing his sword and show his enemies his might once again. Death made you miss the finer, more violent, things in life.
The troops, a small handful of mismatched animals, awaited his command behind the boulder. The huge warrior flicked his hand, beckoning them to follow, and leaped over the side, forging his way deeper into the Gorge. If these troops were his well-trained Hun army, they would need no orders; his Huns used to be an extension of his being, tools ready at all times for his use. Now he had these ragtag, random Villains to wield. No matter; Shan Yu could use anything.

Shere Khan had been following closely behind the big Hun, quietly impressed with the human's skill at moving silently. The big tiger had been skeptical at first, and had been ready to eliminate the human if he proved to be inept. But he was starting to feel a growing, albeit grudging, respect for the Hun. It was too bad he was a human...
All the excitement of the hunt started to rise inside as he crept silently forward, making his own way down into the gorge, leaping almost effortlessly from rock to rock until he crouched in the shadows at the bottom of the gorge. Yellow feline eyes gazed back at bestial yellow eyes that looked like they belonged more to a tiger than a man, then back across the length of the gorge. Hunter that he was, he made certain to tilt his head in such a way to avoid having his eyes shine in the dark. Like the Hun, the tiger really did hope they wouldn't get in and out without a fight.

Post by Gray Brother on Oct 21, 2013 18:06:20 GMT
Gray Brother's pelt was twitching with several emotions. Ever since he'd joined the Forces of Evil as a double agent for the Forces of Good, he'd be dealing with a twisting whirlpool of conflicting feelings. Now, being in the territory of his friends, yet on an errand against them, it was all distractingly intensified. He wished he had someone here to tell him what to do.
When Shan Yu had selected him along with Shere Khan, who was the sub-leader of the FoE's animal division, Gray Brother had felt three things; fear, pride, and confusion. Should he want to go with this party to alert the Forces of Good of their presence and spoil the Forces of Evil's plan while he was there? Or was it not time to betray the Villains—should he keep biding his time?
When they had entered the Gorge late into the day and still not been spotted, this confusion grew. What would he do if they actually found and tried to capture and Orb? Should he try and stop this scouting party all by himself, therefore blowing his cover? He couldn't let them get an Orb. That would be unacceptable, cover or no cover. But what if Forces of Good scouting parties showed up? Would he have to fight his allies, yet still hope that they drove him and the other Villains off?
The most the young wolf could hope for, as he fell into nervous step behind Shere Khan, was an uneventful evening.

As for the great black bear, he prayed for a fight. Redeyes longed to sink his teeth or claws into something's flesh. He gave a small glance at Grey Brother. "So, uh, tell me again what these darn orbs looks like?" he asked as he fell into stride along side the large tiger, lowering his head to speak to Khan. "Cause I don't for the life of me know," he said, glancing ahead to look at the Hun.

So far, everything had been rather peaceful here. While the Outlands were clearly visible from the Pridelands, so far nobody had crossed the border. Well, except for a few disobedient puppies, and one hyena. But still, nobody had been hurt. And for that, Quasimodo was thankful. He sat on the edge of the gorge, gazing up at the starry sky, taking a moment to just enjoy the peace and quiet.
After a moment, he gazed down into the gorge, and his mismatched eyes narrowed. Years of spying down on the people of Paris from the bell tower of Notre Dame had given the hunchback a keen eye, and he made out the shapes of a small group of animals, and one big man, making their way through the gorge. Wary, but curious, the misshapen man made his way nimbly and quietly down the sides of the deep gorge, crouching in the shadows at the bottom as he spied on the strangers. His fingers brushed the handle of the stout wooden club he had tucked into his belt as he watched them approach. Were they friends, or enemies?

Shan Yu could hear his beastly allies murmuring to one another as they followed. They were not his Huns, but he was confident in his choices. The wolf was built for speed, and he'd witnessed the vendetta that the canine had against his 'pack'. A desire for vengeance was an excellent motivator—Shan Yu knew from experience.
The bear was an obvious selection. While it's size might make it a clear position-giveaway for any scouts, the formidable man didn't care. He relished a challenge, and with this monstrous animal behind him, no severe ones were likely to trouble them.
As for the tiger, Shan Yu knew a cunning leader when he saw one. The big cat reminded him of himself. There were a few tigers in China, and they'd all been fabled as dangerous. The Hun expected no less from the powerful feline.
Were his clan under his command at this moment, Shan Yu's scouts might have seen Quasimodo. As it was, even the skin-clad warrior did not notice the misshapen hero in the shadows. He turned to eye Redeyes.
It was still a slight shock that the animals here could speak in the tongue of men. Still, Shan Yu knew of the creature's usefulness—his own falcon was perhaps his greatest outside asset. "I'm sure," his low voice purred, "that these Orbs will be easily recognizable. I've been told that they have a sort of...glow about them."
He smiled wolfishly as though this were an inside joke that they all shared.

The others might not have spotted Quasimodo, but they didn't have a wolf's keen night-sight. As Shan Yu led the bigger, more formidable animals forward, Gray Brother was keeping his head level with his shoulders and ears forward. He still couldn't decide if he wanted a Hero patrol to show up, or not. If he survived this night, the young wolf made a silent vow to add one more thing to his list of information to give King Mickey—set guards on the Gorge.
As they passed the spot where Quasi was crouched, Taraha saw him. Maybe it was because he was shorter than the others and his eyeline was in just the right position, maybe he wasn't as distracted by talking about the Orbs as the others were. Maybe it was just luck. Whatever the reason, the golden gaze of the wolf locked with that of the hunchback.
Taraha knew he must be a hero. He smelled faintly of the strange, cold stardust scent that came off of the Tower. You didn't have to be close to Yen Sid's domain to pick up that scent, so Gray Brother could be sure this strange-looking Man had been in the Forces of Good's camp.
He almost betrayed Quasimodo's position by stopping in his tracks, but he managed to keep moving, though slowly. He paused just briefly enough to glance fervently up at the top of the Gorge, silently telling the Hero to go and get help. Then he faced forward like nothing had happened and continued to follow his scouting party.

Post by Mulan on Oct 21, 2013 23:01:32 GMT
Mulan kept quite as she lay beside and a little bit behind Quasimodo. She had caught on that she seemed to be having some more bad luck, like Stitch eating the bells, ever since she had left Cri-kee at her house. She was starting to think her grandmother was right about him being lucky. So she just stayed still and silent; no use sneezing and giving away their position. She thought it would be good, as this didn't seem like the most friendly bunch, except for the wolf, which looked oddly like the one she saw a few weeks ago.
Then there was this bear that was big and had some red eyes, which she did not want to look at. Then there was this tiger that seemed very full of himself, the way his stance was, and then... "Shan Yu!" she slipped out by accident, and quickly covered her mouth with her hand, hoping that monster didn't hear him. She would hate to face him in a one on one battle after what he did to that village. She didn't have the help she had had last time. She gulped and crouched down a little lower, hoping his hearing was not that much hawk like.

Post by Bolt on Oct 22, 2013 0:04:18 GMT
Bolt crept silently along the rim of the Gorge, watching the mismatched group make their way along the bottom of the Gorge. He was used to this sort of recon work because he had done it a few times before, back in Hollywood, and with Penny. He made sure to keep out of the line of sight of these intruders, which he must have been doing very well because he was sure he hadn't been spotted. If he had, this group would most likely have done or said something to him by now. He saw a wolf among them notice Quasimodo and Mulan for a second, and he froze, ready to rush into the Gorge to their aid if need be. The wolf, however, made a subtle gesture of some kind at the two heroes, and then continued on its way with the others.
"Strange..." Bolt thought to himself. "Oh, well. They don't seem to be in any trouble, now. That wolf down there must be working undercover or something."

Kopa walked alongside Gray Brother, noticing his canid companion looking very worried, and thoughtful at the same time. Personally, Kopa wished he didn't have to be with these Villains any longer, especially not in his own homeland. He had to admit that he was glad to finally be freed from those ropes that had been holding his paws together in the Elephant Graveyard, but at this time of night he would rather be resting snugly next to Mom (Nala), Dad (Simba), and Kiara in the den at Pride Rock, not slinking through the Gorge to be used as a decoy by these freaks, not counting Gray Brother, of course.
