Near the top of the gorge, crouched among some bushes and tucked completely out of sight, the Lone Wolf watched the infiltrators below, noting Taraha's presence with them. At the same time, his heart almost skipped a beat when he saw Shere Khan among them. To face the tiger, and with so few at his side, would have been dangerous enough. But, this night, the tiger wasn't alone. A great bear, an enormous man, and...a lion cub? Why would they bring a lion cub?
He glanced to the side, frowning a bit as Bolt crept along the top of the gorge. White fur, and movement, would draw the attention of the group below, sooner or later, but he couldn't warn the dog without possibly alerting the infiltrators. But, so far, the group below was apparently unaware of the heroes hidden nearby. All except for Taraha. Akela felt proud of the young wolf. Not only was he in harm's way, he was still showing superior skills to the others. He wished Rama could be here to see how bravely his birth son walked so close to Shere Khan without a trace of fear showing.

Quasimodo caught the wolf's brief glance, and held his breath, worried that the others might see him, too. But the moment passed, and he let his breath out silently. He gave a small nod in understanding. While he could hardly scale the cliff without giving away his position, he also knew he didn't need to. Whether by luck, or by some act of providence, a scouting team had been sent to the gorge.
He tensed up as Mulan gasped. Apparently, she had recognized the big human. But whether or not her gasp had been noticed remained to be seen. His grip tightened on his club, and he got ready to fight, if a fight it was to be. That was why he was here, after all. All of his strength would go to protecting his allies.

Gray Brother glanced over his shoulder at Kopa. It was definitely fortunate that he'd been appointed as the cub's guard on this mission. Shan Yu wanted the lion prisoner to go along in case they were caught in the Pridelands and needed the leverage of a hostage to get back into their own territory safely. Gray Brother was glad that the little prince seemed to trust him. The kid had good instincts; he knew when a friend was about, apparently.
When he looked back to make sure Kopa was sticking close, Gray Brother's eyes couldn't help but flit to where Quasimodo was crouched again, now behind the onward-moving Villain's scouting party. He thought he could see the dim shape of someone else with the deformed human. There was no way the Hero could have found reinforcements that fast—but then the wolf suddenly noticed another silhouette, this time up above. A flash of white fur in the moonlight on the edge of the Gorge.
Surprised that the other Villains hadn't noticed, and terrified that they soon would, Gray Brother wrestled with himself. Should he alert Shan Yu to solidify his loyalty, and just hope that the Heroes wouldn't mind and could take care of themselves? Should he keep pretending they weren't there?
There wasn't much time for him to decide, because, quite suddenly, Shan Yu held up his right hand and froze like a gargoyle atop yet another tumbled log.
Gray Brother stopped as ordered. Shan Yu crept around the next bend slowly, gleaming sword-tool at the ready. A radiant light reflected off of his blade.
Taraha suddenly felt the fierce desire to see what made that light, despite all of his previous jungle learnings that any light made in the night was probably the dangerous Red Flower. This felt different—warmer without the intense discomfort fire could bring. Without waiting for his General's orders, without looking to see if Kopa was following, the young wolf moved forward until he was standing off to one side of Shan Yu, looking upon...
A Virtue. It was high up, on a ledge sticking out from the cliff face about fifteen feet from the top of the Gorge and twenty from the bottom, though it never touched anything, hovering over the slim rock shelf like it had invisible feet. It was incredibly beautiful—more beautiful than the autumn moon. More beautiful than all of the most radiant stars put together. Somehow brighter than the sun, in Gray Brother's mind, yet he could look at it without his eyes hurting. It pulsed a warm vanilla-yellow glow, with smaller wisps of light floating around it like oversized fireflies.
Gray Brother knew that finding an Orb should have made him feel panicked because it was the Villains that had found it, and that could only mean conflict. He knew he should be flustered and confused as ever, trying to decide what was the best course of action to take, how he could remain loyal to the Forces of Good with their best benefits in mind.
But all the young wolf could feel as he starred into the depths of the wonderful Virtue was hope, like everything would be all right, and wonder, like he was a young, carefree pup again, looking at this glowing sphere, he imagined creeping up to the woven basket that held his baby brother, the man-cub, Mowgli, in it for the first time. He remembered tumbling around with his sisters, his first hunt with their pack leader, Akela, his father smiling at him proudly.
Happiness and bravery stirred inside of the canine's chest.

Shere Khan chuckled softly at Shan Yu's description of the orb they were seeking. A glow about them, indeed. There were indeed perks about daring to enter Prydain, after all. There was so much one could learn, if they cared to listen. Unlike Redeyes, the tiger took every opportunity to learn what he could from his allies, and from everything they said.
The big tiger had to say he did approve of bringing Kopa along. The tall skeleton's impromptu visit to the Outlands hadn't gone completely unnoticed, or unremarked. So, why not bring the young lion along, and use him to their advantage? After all, the former Lion King, Mufasa, had died in this very gorge, crushed beneath a stampede. The heroes wouldn't dare to do the same, not with Kopa here.
When Shan Yu gestured for them all to halt, Shere Khan did so, but not for the reason the Hun might have in mind. His ears hadn't missed the small pause Taraha had taken, or the small gasp Mulan had let escape her. Sudden;y suspicious, the tiger stood stock still, except for his twitching tail, and he looked around suspiciously, scanning the top of the gorge walls, where he saw the moonlight reflecting off of Bolt's coat. Looking back down on ground level, sharp feline eyes, just as capable of navigating the dark as a wolf's, picked Quasimodo and Mulan out of the shadows where they crouched, then went back up to the gorge rim in time to catch Akela's eyes. The old wolf had risen from his hiding spot when the light from the orb shined off of Shan Yu's sword.
A cruel grin crossed his face before he opened his jaws, and let out a thunderous roar that echoed off of the walls of the gorge, both alerting his allies, and challenging his enemies.

Shan Yu saw Bolt the at the same moment Shere Khan did. He had been gazing at the Orb, feeling a mix of fogginess in his head, as if he'd caught a cold, and disgust, like he'd just seen something unpleasant, like the contents of someone's stomach. The conceited Hun warrior was impressed with his luck. Even he hadn't been so unrealistically deluded to think he'd actually find an Orb that the Forces of Good hadn't already stumbled upon in their territory.
Now he threw back his head and shouted aloud a battle cry. The Forces of Good were here, and they would notice the Virtue, if they hadn't already, at any moment. A fight was about to break out, and the General was all too ready. No, these odds weren't good for his scouting party—he was in enemy territory, already surrounded by opposite forces, who could call for reinforcements at any time.
But Shan Yu was confident in himself, if not the skill of his troops. And they had the Lion Cub Prince. If they couldn't fight their way out of this, they had leverage enough to escape, maybe even with the Orb. It depended on whether these heroes valued life more, or the Virtue.
"Attack!" He roared. "Get to the Orb!"
Knowing that he was leaving himself open to assault, Shan Yu made a dash for the foot of the cliff, intending to climb his way to the Virtue. How would they move it once they possessed it? What would happen once he reached it? The Hun didn't know or care. He was filled with the lust for victory and the thrill of battle.

Mulan gasped as Shan Yu discovered what was, without a doubt, one of the Virtues.
It all happened so fast, Khan letting out a roar of battle and Shan Yu ordering his forces to get the Virtue. Mulan knew that he could not be allowed to get the Virtue. She stood up, grabbing her bow, arrow, and rope, got it tied, and aimed an arrow just to the right of Shan Yu. She shot it, then tied the rope to a nearby stump.
Mulan jumped onto the rope, using her bow as a handle to zipline down to the ground near Shan Yu. She knew she didn't have much chance in a sword fight with him, but perhaps she could distract him, at least maybe until something happened that would be good. Mulan drew her sword. She knew Shan Yu would pick a chance for revenge over one Virtue.

Gray Brother started in alarm at the roars from both Shere Khan and Shan Yu. He looked frantically to the left in and right as the fight broke out. The feelings of hope and bravery didnt die after looking away from the Virtue, but they'd certainly didn't help his scattered brain. For a wierd moment, he couldn't decide who to fight—the Forces of Evil, or the Forces of Good.
If he fought the Forces of Good, it would keep his cover. But did his mission change now that that beautiful Orb was hanging in the balance? Could he be the difference between victory or defeat for his true allies?
If he fought the Forces of Evil, that would be it. No more double-agent undercover wolf. He'd have to make whomever he fought count, and when the battle was over—assuming he lived through it—he'd have to go back to Pride Rock as a member of the FoG again, and give his real friends what information he'd been able to gather.
As opposed to keeping his cover by fighting one of the Heroes, then going back with Shan Yu and the others—again, assuming he lived through this skirmish—to the Outlands, where he continued to pretend to be something he wasn't, every second having to be on guard.
Taraha looked at Kopa. The young lion cub might be able to run in the confusion...but then again, one of the other Villains might catch him. Then the poor kid would be taken back as a prisoner. His chances of ever escaping his dreadful situation dwindled...without someone on the inside to help him. And there was that little puppy, Rebecca, who didn't know who she was or what she was missing, who's every moment spent on the evil side of this struggle was twisting her mind to hate like her comrades.
Determination glinted in the son of Rama's golden gaze. He had to keep doing his part.
He leaned down and grabbed Kopa by the scruff of the neck, bounding over to a cleft in the rock. He shoved the young lion into the cramped space and threw his weight against a log leaning on the walls of the steep Gorge. The log tumbled down in front of the spot he'd stashed the cub in, effectively trapping the kid in the crack of the stone. (OOC: hope that wasn't too godmoddy, tell me if it was)
"Sorry, young one," he growled, and added a wolfish grin to make it look like he was being sarcastic, while his gaze burned with the sincere ness of the apology. "Wait the fight out in here, eh?"
Now that his fake 'duties' watching the Forces of Evil's prisoner had been fulfilled, Gray Brother turned and sprinted towards the foot of the cliffs that made up the opposite wall of the Gorge, looking up at Akela. He leaned a snarl into his already-rough voice, and leaped vainly, only to slide back down to the bottom of the ravine. All to show his eagerness to fight the older wolf. "Akela! Get down here and face me, you old bone-bag!"
He ducked as the whizz of an arrow momentarily distracted him. When he glanced up again, a rope was stretched above his head, leading towards Shan Yu. The wolf had to crouch to avoid being kicked in the head by Mulan as she slid down the zip line.

(OOC: No worries, Gray Brother. I was having a little trouble deciding what I wanted Kopa to do next, anyway.)
Kopa hardly understood what was happening. There was a roar from Shere Khan, a shout from Shan Yu, and next thing he knew, Gray Brother had grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, and was carrying the cub over to a cleft in the Gorge Wall. The wolf put him inside it and pushed a tree over the opening.
"Sorry, young one," he heard Gray Brother growl. "Wait the fight out in here, eh?"
Kopa nodded, seeing a sincerity in the wolf's eyes. As Gray Brother darted away, Kopa curled up and tried to fit himself more comfortably in to this crack that he had been put into. If he had to wait this whole thing out, he would rather do it in here than out there.

Akela had mentally cursed himself when he met Shere Khan's gaze. The light shining off of Shan Yu's sword had been more than enough to reveal what the Hun had found. And now, it was down to a fight. In response to the roars and bellows from below, Akela tilted his head back, and let a long howl peel across the gorge, an old Seonee Wolf battle cry.
Then he returned his attention to the group below, his gaze fixing on Taraha, waiting for the young wolf to decide if he would continue his mission, or not. He didn't have long to wait. When he saw Grey Brother seize the young lion, and hide him away, he knew, even before the young wolf spat his challenge, what his decision had been. So be it. He would play his part, as well.
"Face my fangs, traitor!" he snarled, charging headlong down the side of the gorge, fangs bared, ears folded back. This would be no mock fight. Blood would be shed. But he would do what he could to avoid striking a killing blow. He came to a halt, ready for battle, a short distance away from Taraha.
"There will be no death cry for you, and the Free People will never again speak your name. You are no longer the son of Rama and Raksha. You have no place among the Seonee, or anywhere in the jungle. I name you rogue, jackal, and scrap-licker," he intoned, invoking the words of banishment from a wolf pack, glad Rama and Raksha weren't here to hear him proclaim such about their son, even if it wasn't true. He had to act like it was, or Grey Brother's life would be forfeit.
He paused for a moment, to allow the full weight of what he had said to sink in, then, in the manner of a hunting wolf, he sprang forward, aiming a vicious snap at Taraha's left leg, then springing back beyond easy reach of the younger wolf's jaws.

Bolt had, of course, seen what everyone else had at the same time they had. He had also seen Kopa long before the Villains had seen any of the Heroes, and when he saw Gray Brother hide the cub in a crack in the cliff face, his suspicion about Gray Brother being undercover was confirmed. Then Akela, also coming to that conclusion, leaped down into the Gorge to face Gray Brother head-on.
With Shan Yu and Gray Brother taken, that just left Redeyes and Shere Khan. Bolt leapt down and landed in front of the two aforementioned animals, narrowing his eyes, baring his teeth and pinning his ears back in a threatening stare, and letting out a loud growl for good measure.
"I'll be your opponent, you fiends," he snarled at them. "And don't think you can intimidate me. I've fought creatures and machines even larger than you before!"
