The little mouse, named Olivia Flaversham, asked for his assistance to find his father; who had been abducted by two strangers. Basil was reluctant at first, until Olivia mentioned that one of the strangers was a peg-legged bat, who he recognized as one of Ratigan's henchmen. While he was putting two and two together to understand what Ratigan might be planning with Olivia's father, the girl screamed when he saw the bat on the window. After being alerted by Olivia, they try to find the bat, but he managed to escape. Fortunately for them, the bat left his footprints on the ground. This gave Basil the idea of taking Sherlock Holmes's hound, to follow his trail.
With Toby's help, they managed to follow this criminal to a toy store. They discovered that some of the soldiers didn't had suits on them. While looking for more clues, the bat captured Olivia, and during the mayhem he caused he escaped from the place. To their luck, Fidget had dropped something that might give them a clue to his whereabouts. Both mice managed to discover Ratigan's lair, but the evil professor had been prepared and set them up. Ratigan tied them to a complex deathly trap to finish Basil off, while he go after the queen. Basil, being humiliated by his arch-enemy, was having pity for himself. But with Dawson's help he managed to snap out from his self-loathing, and this made him realize that the complexity of the trap could be used on their favor to escape. In the end, Basil and Dawson escaped from the trap safe and sound.
They arrived to Buckingham's palace to stop Ratigan, who had proclaimed himself king after supplanting the queen with a robot. Their pursuit for Ratigan led them to the Big Ben, where Basil and Ratigan had their finally confrontation. Basil almost didn't make it, but he managed to survive from a sudden death, while Ratigan fell to his demise. Once the crisis was solved, the Queen rewarded Basil for saving his life, and Olivia was reunited with his father. Just after the good doctor and Basil had bid farewell to each other, a female mouse dressed in green got inside looking for Basil. Gladly, Basil accepted to help her and introduced Dr. Dawson as his friend and assistant. From that moment on, the two friends took and solve many cases together.
The Orbs Conflict
The clientage had been short lately for Basil and Dr. Dawson, something that he didn't find very pleasant. The lack of activity made him feel moody, and he had to find a way to keep his mind busy. One night, while his companion got out for a walk, he found a strange letter addressed to him. It was written in an old sheet of parchment asking for his aid in a conflict. After further reading the letter, the detective got intrigued when he read about the orbs of power. He was skeptical at first by the mere mention of magic, because that was illogical. For a moment, he stopped to think about the matter carefully. Because some stuff was out of place. He examined the letter carefully with his equipment -just to clear his doubts-, and to his surprise the paper was genuine. Nobody wrote in pieces of parchment anymore, nor kept anything for writing. Now he couldn't understand how the letter ended up on his study, since it didn't seem that somebody forced the door's lock. The possibility that this was a joke, was getting slim. Intrigued by this situation, he decided to accept the wizard's invitation, moved by his interest and curiosity.
Before putting his coat and hat on, he left a note for Dawson, explaining the motive of his sudden departure. Once he had everything prepared for his journey, he followed the letter's instructions to find one of the magic portals that would lead him to the their HQ.

A new adventure had come to his door by mere coincidence. That was the only way to explain his find out, back at the flat. Magic. A word that wasn't listed in his vocabulary. Superstitions had always been tell-tales, he believed more in facts. Though he never believed in such fairy-tales, something inside him moved him to know more about this matter. It was the remarkable trait of a good detective; his innate curiosity for getting the facts. He was more curious to know the true identity from the message sender. At the bottom of the letter, a set of numbers were written in a very specific pattern. These digits were a set of coordinates, which actually matched to London's layout. Once he realized where the portal was located, he hitched a ride on a carriage to get to his destination.
When he arrived to the portal's location, he started to look everywhere, but he didn't have too much luck. That was until a strange blurry image appeared a few inches before him. As he got closer, it was difficult for him to believe what he was seeing. The image got more defined, and right before his eyes, an animal ran through the background. That creature was typical from the african savanna. Now it was a fact that the portal was real, and that it connected to another place.
"Well, the unknown has called to my door." the mouse uttered to himself. "Well, whomever this Yen Sid is, I won't keep him waiting. Besides, he can explain me why does he need my talents in a skirmish of this magnitude."
After saying this, he stepped into this portal, that would lead him to place that he wasn't familiar with.
