July 14th- Late Morning around 10:00 am- This thread takes place the day after Seeking Out. It's between Boris, Geno, and Thomas.
"Boris? You here?" Geno asked as the young fawn glanced about, only to pause at the sight of the light grey russian hound. "Boris! I need to talk to you, please it's important."
Boris's ears twitched to the fawn's words and opening his red eyes, the elderly dog looked to his young alarm clock. What could the youngster desire right now? Rising to a sitting position, the russian wolf hound looked away from Geno and let out a yawn. Well he had a good enough amount of sleep, he could always get some of it back later on in the day. Geno remained still as he watched the elderly dog get up right before him. Seeing those teeth, a instinct in the young fawn told him to run but knowing that Boris had saved him, helped the young prince not to do such a thing.
"Geno, is everything alright?" Boris asked as he turned red gaze to the fawn.
"Well yes but, I have something to ask you." Geno respoded as he stood there, the old Russian wolf hound raised a thick eyebrow.
"Ask away dear lad, you shouldn't remain quiet if something is on your mind."
"You see I....I was wondering if...." the young prince paused as he though tit over.
Would Boris even be willing to help out? Considering after all, he was a elderly dog and really seemed to just be a wisdom holder. Bambi wasn't here and so far he hadn't found his Grandfather either. There was no buck to give him advice or...well....the thing he was currently needing. Considering how his encounter with that liar Ronno had gone, he couldn't just sit back and do nothing about it.
"You see, I...I want you to teach me how to fight. Like you did with Ronno, to make him go away and if in case he wouldn't just run off again, I need to know how to protect myself." Geno finished, though the young fawn wasn't expecting the elderly dog reaction.
Boris's eyes widened with surprise as a look of disbelief was on his face. Teach him?!! Boris wasn't a fighter, he was a caretaker. If Geno wanted a teacher, he should've gone to one of the lioness or.....well.....the teachings of a lioness might not really help the young fawn all that well. But what could a elderly dog teach a deer fawn in this area?
"Geno....I'm not a fighter and you know that." Boris started. "I only fight if it's to protect you and the other children, and even though I confronted that buck I was hoping that a fighter wouldn't happen cause I'm not some young dog anymore laddy. An old dog like I can only help so much in certain ways. Isn't there any of the other adults that could teach ya?"
"But....my father isn't here to do that or my grandfather! Please Boris. The only adult that I know can help is you." Geno begged, a sigh left the old dog as he sat there.
I doubt I can change his mind.... Boris thought in his head.
"Alrighty Geno, I'll help. However, you aren't to go after that roughen and try to take him on if I do this for you. Understand? I'm only doing this, so you can protect yourself if he ever finds you and you're alone, not the other way around." Boris answered, Geno smiled and nodded his head quickly.
"Yes! I understand." Geno agreed, still keeping the wide smile on his face.
Well, no turning back now for the old dog. Rising to his paws, Boris tried to think of what he could actually teach the young deer. After all, Geno had hooves instead of paws and claws. Plus, no fangs however one day the youngster would have his own antlers. But those might not come for a good while and as such, they weren't going to help the youngster until that time. What could he teach Geno until Bambi or the young fawn's Grandfather, The Great Prince of the Forest returned and was able to teach him? Ears twitched as the russian wolf hound clearly showed that he was thinking it over. Eventually though a idea came to the old dog and he rose to his paws.
"Alright Geno, I think I've got a few ideas." Boris said. "Now, there's gonna be some difficulty in me trying to teach you since we're not the same species but I'm sure you can figure out the best way to apply it."
"Okay!" Geno said excitedly.
(OOC: Doing a time skip cause I'm lazy and not really sure on what to put. Sorry!)
How was he going to do this? Geno was a rather willing to learn student yes, but so far all the old dog had managed to do was having the young fawn kick with his hind legs along with using the rocks as projectiles. Oh....he wasn't suited to teach defense, that was something Boris knew. But he did promise he'd try to help teach Geno and he was going to keep said promise. Just until the youngster's father or grand father arrived to do that job. Despite Boris's own doubts, Geno thought the old dog was doing great at teaching him!
"Geno, it be best we take a break. Teaching won't do you any good if you wear yourself out lad." Boris said as he took a seat.
"But...." Geno started though he fell silent as he was interrupted.
"You should listen to him, I think he knows what he's saying." a voice interrupted.
The young fawn turned his gaze to the owner and his eyes went wide. A...a....a... a MAN!!! The young fawn stood there, eyes wide and his mouth was about to hang open as he stood there scared. What...what would he do to him? Sure there were others of this man's race around camp but the young fawn hadn't been this close to them. The stick thing that he had on his shoulder didn't help the young fawn be less afraid. Turning his gaze back to Boris, the young deer was only surprised by what he saw.
"Ah, Thomas what are doing up this early?" Boris asked with a smile.
Wh...why is he acting so calm? Geno wondered as he watched the old dog go over to the man. Is it.....just because Boris is a dog? There are dogs that....hunt with Man.
"Early? It's kind of late early don't you think Boris?" Thomas replied with a smile, though one could tell it was a nervous smile and Boris turned his gaze back to Geno.
"There's no need to be afraid lad, this here is Thomas a friend. He's also rather new to the camp as well plus...the whole being able to talk and understand us." Boris said to Geno with a smile.
"Um.....h..hi." Geno greeted to Thomas as he looked at the man with his large ears lowering.
"It's okay, I can see why you're scared of me....considering...." Thomas started but he quickly went silent. "You know what? That part doesn't matter, we're all on the same side here. Well, as Boris said I'm Thomas. So...who are you?"
Thomas was still getting used to talking to animals. It felt so.....strange. Half the time he was thinking that he had fallen into some strange dream or...he was loosing his mind after John got shot, the Governor was revealed to be a really bad guy, Thomas himself ACTUALLY giving orders to the others and standing up to the Governor, and then the pain of having to send his best friend back to England on the slim chance of saving his life. It was reasonable to think that you might've lost part of your marbles sometime after that if you were Thomas. Plus...that letter that just came out of nowhere it seemed, asking him to come here. Oh boy. Taking a seat on the ground, he waited for Geno to answer.
The young fawn prince was still a bit too overwhelmed by his fear to really process what Thomas was saying. Though as he watched the human sit down on the ground to be more of Geno's height, the fawn snapped out of it and his ears slightly raised. What would his father say to this? Him talking to a human? Heck, his father would probably be upset enough that his son was talking and being taught by a dog! Though Boris might be able to get on his father's acceptance since the old dog saved his life.
"Oh...my name's Geno." Geno answered.
"Geno huh? Well that's certainly interesting." Thomas replied.
"R...Really?"
"Yeah. I've honestly never heard of it before." Geno's fear went away and a smile came to his face, this Man was...was nice.
"I've never heard of the name Thomas but then again, I've never met a Man before let alone talk to one." Boris couldn't help but laugh.
"This is a strange place that seems to be doing all sorts of things." Boris said with a smile.
At least, these strange things were good. After all, you need to make friends with those on your side.
