New here? Let me be the first to welcome you to Disney Destiny! If you're anything like I was when I first came to a proboards RP (Which is what Disney Destiny is), you're thinking, "Wow, this looks complicated. I don't know if I can do this." or "Where do I go first?!" Well, here, let me help you out. One thing you need to know if you're considering joining Disney Destiny is that it'll take a bit of work. Most of that work will be reading. Then the fun can really begin! Click the underlined links below if you're up for that!
ESSENTIAL READING:
PLOT
The plot should show you what the Rp is all about and set you up to see what you'll be Role Playing if you decide to join us. It's absolutely essential that you read this; READ IT, or you can't really understand what's going on.
RULES
Here are Disney Destiny's Rules. Now that you know the plot, you should read these. They will give you even more insight on how to move forward and on how to go about your business on Disney Destiny! These rules are mandatory; that means you must read and follow them. Without them, you can't RP with us.
FOR FURTHER INFO:
Plot Points: Orbs of Power
Plot Points: The Virtuous Council
Plot Points: Villains
Plot Points: Sensational Six and Co.
Plot Points: The Path to Wonderland?
These are what we call 'Plot Points'. They are not required reading like the Rules and Plot, but they are extremely helpful if you have questions like, "Where does Mickey Mouse fit in with all of the big, tough heroes?" or, "What exactly are these Ten Orbs?" or even, "Can I play my favorite Villain, even if they died in their movie?" If you've clicked these links, that means you're probably really into the story of what's going on in Disney Destiny. If this is true, you'll want to check these out, too:
So Far...
So Far... is Yen Sid's summary of everything that the members of Disney Destiny have RPed so far. Once you click the above link, scroll down until you see a list of months. Reading these in order, you'll be able to catch up on everything that's happened before you got here! It gets updated as events happen, so keep checking back to see what's going on. So Far... is based on our Timeline, which can be found here. The Timeline should direct you to each individual 'thread' so that you can go and read them for yourself if you like. If you're looking for even more detailed information on what has happened so far, or you want to know what a specific character was thinking during that time, check out our:
Journals
Once you click the link above, you'll see two different boards; 'Dark Memoirs' and 'Yen Sid's Records'. The first one is a collection of the Villain characters' diaries and thoughts throughout the RP, and the second is for the Heroes'. Not every member has chosen to keep an in-character journal for all of their characters, but these should give you even more insight on what's happened in the RP so far. To that end, you might like to read our logbook of Character Injuries, where our members have kept track of the wounds and injuries their characters have gotten over the course of the Struggle for the Orbs.
Tale As Old As Time
And finally, Tale As Old As Time! Click on the above link and scroll down. You'll see a list of story titles. These are short stories or RP threads that have taken place in Disney Destiny, but are too small to be considered for the official Timeline. You'll find short stories about how characters like Rapunzel or Mulan decided to join the Forces of Good, or secret plots between two Villains in the Forces of Evil. There will also be stories that take place before the worlds were merged and the Orbs scattered. Is your head spinning yet? Don't worry. Like I said, only the Rules and Plot are required reading.
Click this link if the character you're applying for is a hero. Remember, make sure the character isn't on the No Touchie list, or you can't play him/her.
Awaiting Approval: Villains
Click this link if the character you're applying for is a villain. Remember, make sure the character isn't taken. You may see some other threads there; those are members waiting for their application to be approved. Now, click on 'Create Thread' on the top right. In the 'Subject' bar, enter the character you want to be's name. In the big box, right click, then click 'paste'. You'll see the entire application template ready for you to answer! Fill out everything, then click 'Create Thread' in the bottom right, and you're all set! Now you just need to wait until I or another staff member sees your application, reads it, and comments. We may comment saying, 'Approved. Decide the Destiny of Disney!', meaning YAY! YOU CAN FINALLY START RPING! or, we may also comment telling you to fix something on the Application. If this happens, simply scroll up to the top of your thread. There should be a white 'Edit' button. Click on that, and you can fix whatever we asked you to. Once that's done to the staff's satisfaction, you will be approved!
Here, in this thread, all you have to do is post asking where everyone thinks you should start your character. Like I said, you might not need to post here; maybe you already have an idea on how to start! But this is where you can get plenty of feedback and suggestions on how to begin RPing.

All right, that takes care of the Plot's information! Now we can move on. What should you do now that you've stuffed your head full of reading? Well, guess what? It's time to get ready to RP! You can finally stop browsing and reading what other members have done and join us yourself. Well...first I had better explain some things for you new proboards users.
THREADS AND BOARDS?
Huzzahwah? Threads? Boards? What on earth does that mean? Some of you probably already know, but when I first joined a proboards RP like Disney Destiny, I had no clue what they were or what the difference was between them! Let me try to explain. Just think of a board as a location. When you're on the home page of Disney Destiny and you scroll down, you'll see tons of pictures of places you've seen in Disney movies, like the Pridelands, the Jungle, or Sydney. All of those boxes with pictures in them are called 'Boards'. What you clicked to get here, 'Let's Get Down to Business', is also a Board. Now, when you're RPing, what you want to so is click on a board and 'create a thread'. A thread is like a topic. For example, every title listed in the Timeline is one thread, and the location listed after a title is the board it was created in. Like: "Forever Let Us Hold Your Banner High" in Pride Rock. See? To create a thread, all you have to do is go to a board. Once you've clicked a board, you should see a small blue rectangle button on the top right corner of a box with the words 'Create Thread'. Click on that, and there you go! One final not; only staff members can make boards. All you have to worry about is creating threads to go in those boards!
GETTING YOUR CHARACTER
Now that you hopefully understand making threads in boards, let's get back to where you're going next. You want to RP with us? Well, the first thing you should do is pick a character! But wait. Check this out, first:
Once you click on the above link, copy the entire application by highlighting it, right-clicking, and selecting 'Copy'. You're going to have to fill this baby out, like a test, but more fun and with second chances if you get something wrong.
Awaiting Approval: Heroes

No Touchie!
This thread is called 'No Touchie', and it's our Taken Characters List. Let's hope you don't see the character you want to play already on that list, because if you do, that character has already been claimed by someone else. Now, you know from reading the Rules that the first thing you need to do is claim a character. Claiming a character is the easiest part of all of this. First, go to our Character Board:
Diamond in the Rough
Diamond in the Rough is where you'll find the completed Applications, Awaiting-Approval-Applications, Denied/Abandoned Applications, and Work In Progress (WIP) Applications for both Villainous and Heroic Characters. You'll also find the 'No Touchie!' list I linked you to above and everyone else's Claims Threads. That's right, you need to make your own thread to claim a character!
CLAIMS RULES
I see that look on your face. I hear your sigh. You thought we were done reading. Don't worry, the Claims Rules are super-duper short because it's so easy. Click on the Diamond in the Rough link. Scroll down; don't click 'Forces of Good' or 'Forces of Evil'. You'll see a lot of threads that say 'Mickey's Claims' or 'Rissa's Claims'. You're going to make one just like that. Simply scroll up a tad, click on the 'Create a Thread' Button, and make your own Claims thread, following the Claims Rules. You'll come back and post on this thread each time you want to claim a new character or even drop an old one.
From reading the rules, you know that once you've claimed a character, you need to apply for that character. A Character Application is basically like your audition to play that character. It helps me, the admin, and the staff decide if you know that character well enough to RP as him or her, and if you've read the Rules and Plot. This is where you go next:

Congratulations! You're an official part of Disney Destiny. Now you can begin RPing with us. How do you go about that? Well, this is the last thing to do, if you don't already have an idea:
Jumping InHere, in this thread, all you have to do is post asking where everyone thinks you should start your character. Like I said, you might not need to post here; maybe you already have an idea on how to start! But this is where you can get plenty of feedback and suggestions on how to begin RPing.
Now you know your way around the forum, hopefully, but you haven't seen everything there is to see! Disney Destiny has games, fan art, and discussions. We can't wait to RP with you, and we hope you'll enjoy your time here. Hopefully you'll have as much fun as we do! If this is all a bit too much for you and you've decided Disney Destiny isn't the RP for you, well, we're glad you dropped by to check us out. We do ask that you spread the word; maybe your friends would like to check us out, too. Enjoy!
